Milwaukee Children’s Choir is excited to announce the appointment of Lynn Swanson as Executive Artistic Director as we enter our 25th season. The selection comes after a national search led by the Board of Directors. Ms. Swanson’s tenure will begin on August 15, 2018.
In her new role at MCC, Swanson will work collaboratively with the Board of Directors and all staff to ensure the organization’s mission and vision is achieved. Ms. Swanson will lead both the artistic and administrative sides of the organization.

Ms. Swanson’s dedication to choral pedagogy and developing voices embody the vision of the organization. Using her experience, Ms. Swanson will preserve the MCC legacy as we enter our 25th season while pursuing exciting new opportunities in our fine city.”
Lynn most recently served as Assistant Director of the Zhuhai Classical Children’s Choir in Zhuhai, China while concurrently serving as the Director of the Institute for Healthy Singing under the William Baker Choral Foundation. She writes articles on the science behind the voice on DevelopingVoices blog, published weekly on the American Choral Directors Association online newsletter ChoralNet.org.
As Executive Associate Music Director with The William Baker Choral Foundation, Ms. Swanson held the position of Music Director and Conductor for the Lynn Swanson Festival Singers, a professional level ensemble based in Atlanta, Georgia, specializing in short form a cappella music. She is the Founder and Director of the one hundred voice Cobb Summer Singers now called the Baroque Summer Institute that annually performs masterworks with professional orchestra.
She previously held the position of Organist/Choirmaster of St. Benedict’s Episcopal Church. Prior to that she served as Assistant Organist and Accompanist for the Choir of Christ the King Anglican Church in Frankfurt, Germany giving choral performances at the Norte-Dame Cathedral and American Cathedral in Paris and the Alte Nikolai Kirche in Frankfurt. During her tenure in Germany, she also served as Assistant Organist to Herr Helmut Melzer, Organist and Music Director of St. Johann Kirche in Kronberg.
Lynn holds a Master of Music Education in Choral Pedagogy from the University of Kansas in addition to the Bachelor of Music in Organ Performance from Shorter University as a recipient of the Theodor Presser Foundation Scholarship.
Lynn’s choral ensembles have toured throughout the United States and have been featured on Central China Television Network; the Tenth Annual Chamber Concert series, Central Conservatory Beijing, China; International Beijing Choir Festival; Piccolo Spoleto Festival in Charleston, South Carolina; Christmas Atlanta Festival, and Arts International Festival, Frances Marion University among others.
Currently entering its 25th season, Milwaukee Children’s Choir continues to delighting audiences and provide children with exceptional choral music education and performance experiences that foster creativity, personal expression and social growth.
Milwaukee Children’s Choir, a member of the United Performing Arts Fund, maintains five levels of evening choir choral education in the greater Milwaukee area, as well as two levels of evening choir choral education in Lake Country. Offering rehearsal locations throughout the Greater Milwaukee area, the Children’s Choir incorporates children from throughout the whole of Southeastern Wisconsin.
