Virtual Christmas in the Basilica

Bel Canto's beloved holiday concert will be returning in mid-December and will be free to stream online! A group of masked and socially-distanced chorus members will record their pieces from the beautiful Basilica of St. Josaphat. They will then work our magic and blend in the other chorus members’ virtual recordings. The result will be a virtual Christmas in the Basilica like you’ve never experienced before – one that can be enjoyed with those you love from the comfort of your home this holiday season.

When the folks at Christmastown get the news that First Stage won’t be able to share Rudolph’s story on stage for audiences this season, the Misfit Toys, the Elves and Sam the Snowman decide to come to Milwaukee to help out—sure that they can help First Stage find a way to spread some holiday cheer. Incorporating some of the beloved songs from the show, the special shares their journey from their misadventures around the office and the shops to their discovery of the world of First Stage and Milwaukee to their efforts to cheer Milwaukee’s young people and their families. At a time when we need it more than ever, First Stage offers this gift to our community—filled with music, humor and a healthy dose of holiday magic. For families and audiences of all ages.

The Milwaukee Ballet's 40-year tradition of adding magic to Milwaukee’s holiday season continues with The Nutcracker: Short & Sweet. This abbreviated adaptation of this seasonal classic is being created by Artistic Director Michael Pink to share a bit of holiday cheer during these challenging times. This original work features variations from the traditional production and narrated by the toymaker, Drosselmeyer.

Each year, nearly 40,000 people experience Milwaukee Rep Artistic Director Mark Clements’ epic adaptation at the beautiful historic Pabst Theater. The Rep is opening their video vault to bring a never-before-seen recording of the 2016 production filmed and produced by HMS Media. This production will be available for FREE to view Dec 1 – 24 as our gift to theater lovers worldwide.

Jacob Marley’s Christmas Carol featuring Lee E. Ernst

Streaming Dec. 10 - 24

A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience the incomparable Lee E. Ernst playing more than a dozen characters in the Dickens’ classic with a unique soundscape developed by foley artist Dan Kazemi, under the direction of Milwaukee Rep Artistic Director Mark Clements. This fully realized production will be taped and distributed to a limited number of people on a first come, first served basis. The production will be available to view for $20 per household Dec 10 – 24. Proceeds from streaming sales will be used to employ and compensate artists involved in the production.
