STARRING TONY AWARD WINNER ANTHONY CRIVELLO “McGuire” Returns for A Limited Engagement June 1 – 18 in the Stackner Cabaret

On the heels of a sold-out 8 week run that had critics raving, Milwaukee Repertory Theater’s  McGuire starring Tony Award winner and Marquette Alum Anthony Crivello will return to the Stackner Cabaret for a limited engagement this June 1-18, 2017.  Written by Emmy-winning and Hall of Fame sports broadcaster Dick Enberg, McGuire celebrates the local legend Marquette University’s basketball coach Al McGuire in a newly expanded one-man show.

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel raves “This show will exercise enormous appeal for Marquette fans.  It should!” OnMilwaukee praised “Anthony Crivello’s performance in McGuire is one for the ages, an absolute powerful joy to watch!”  and “at times you’d swear it was the actual Al up there” says Urban MilwaukeeBroadwayWorld cheers that McGuire “returns the audience to those glory years in an intimate, stellar production!”

This special limited engagement of McGuire begins performances June 1 and runs through June 18, 2017 in the Stackner Cabaret.  Tickets can be purchased online at, by phone at 414-224-9490 or in person at the Ticket Office (108 E. Wells Street). ).  Performance schedule is as follows: Tuesdays – Thursdays at 7:30pm, Fridays at 8pm, Saturdays at 4pm and 8pm, Sundays at 2pm and 7pm.  The Stackner will open 1 hour prior to show-time and will feature a full bar with a limited dessert and snack menu.

McGuire is written by Emmy-winning and Hall of Fame sports broadcaster Dick Enberg.  Mr. Enberg’s broadcasting career spans over six decades where his signature “Oh, My!” can be recognized around the world.  He was the TV announcer for Al McGuire’s Marquette games in the 1970s, including the ’77 National Championship and later was paired with him for over 20 years as a broadcasting team, thus creating a memorable friendship.

McGuire stars Tony Award-winner and Milwaukee native Anthony Crivello in the title role that portrays the uncommonly funny and profound man behind the legend.  Before performing on Broadway and appearing numerous times on the big and small screen, Mr. Crivello was courtside with Coach McGuire during the 1974/75 basketball season as captain of the Marquette Cheerleading Squad.  He later went on to be an Honored Member of Marquette University’s Century of Scholarship and the recipient of the Marquette University’s College of Speech & Communications distinguished 2003 Communicator of the Year Award.  Just this past year he was inducted into the Marquette University/The Diedrich College of Communications ‘Hall Of Fame’ and honored with a plaque on permanent display in Johnson Hall.

McGuire features direction by Associate Artistic Director Brent Hazelton (Liberace!), set and video projection design by Kristin Ellert-Sakowski (Shrek! The Musical at First Stage), costume design by Milwaukee Rep’s Craftmaster Andrea Bouck, lighting design by Noelle Stollmack (An Iliad, The Beautiful Music All Around Us) and sound design by Erin Paige (The Doyle & Debbie Show).

McGuire is sponsored by Godfrey Kahn with special thanks to John Biever and Milwaukee Journal Sentinel for their support. The Rep is sponsored in part by The United Performing Arts Fund.
