Edgar Moreau brings “angelic purity of tuning and impeccable fast finger-work” (The Telegraph) to the impassioned cello concerto by Édouard Lalo, anchoring a program of dance and delight which includes flavors of Spain in Ravel’s Rapsodie espagnole and Falla’s Three-Cornered Hat Suite. Composer Gabriela Lena Frank brings Latin American rhythms to the stage in three dances: “Jungle Jaunt” (listen for nods to Bernstein’s West Side Story), the melancholy adagio “Highland Harawi,” and, in Frank’s words, “a lighthearted tribute to the ‘mestizo’ or mixed-race music of the South American Pacific coast.”
