Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: With pandemic in mind, UPAF turns Ride for the Arts into a three-weekend series

Jim Higgins | January 12, 2020

The United Performing Arts Fund has reconfigured its signature fundraising event this year as The UPAF Ride for the Arts Series, with Sunday rides from different locations on June 6, 13 and 27 to raise funds for local performing arts groups.

For the 31st straight year, the Ride event will be sponsored by Miller Lite.

Here's how it will work:

Participants can register to cycle, run, walk or roll on June 6 at Veterans Park, June 13 at the Wilson Center in Brookfield, or June 27 at Coal Dock Park in Port Washington. Registration is $45 for a single, or $65 to participate in all three.

In a statement about this year's ride, UPAF said it worked with the Milwaukee Health Department to craft an approach that complies with city health orders during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Route maps for the three rides will be posted later.

UPAF raises operating funds for performing arts organizations such as the Milwaukee Symphony and Milwaukee Repertory Theater. It also provides one-time grants to arts organizations.
