The United Performing Arts Fund (UPAF) announced it has raised $9,101,255 through its 2025 Community Campaign, reaffirming its role as a national leader in performing arts funding. The total was revealed during UPAF Funding Day, a celebratory event held on October 9 at the Milwaukee Youth Arts Center (MYAC). MYAC is home to three of UPAF Member organizations, Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra (MYSO), First Stage, and Danceworks.

More than 100 guests — including major corporate sponsors, individual donors, campaign volunteers, and representatives from UPAF’s 14 Member organizations — gathered to celebrate this milestone achievement and the collective generosity that sustains Southeastern Wisconsin’s world-class performing arts scene.
Funding Day served as the culminating moment of the annual campaign, honoring 2025 Co-Chairs Peggy Williams-Smith (Visit Milwaukee) and Tim Mattke (MGIC), while welcoming Ceceilia Gore (Milwaukee Brewers Foundation) and Marty Brooks (Wisconsin Center District) as incoming co-chairs for the 2026 campaign.

“This year’s campaign is a testament to the extraordinary generosity and vision of our community,” said Annemarie Scobey-Polacheck, President and CEO of UPAF. “While Wisconsin historically ranks among the lowest in public arts funding, Southeastern Wisconsin has become a national model for what’s possible when a community comes together to champion the performing arts. Our region’s continued leadership shows how deeply we value creativity, education, and shared cultural experiences.”

The location at MYAC allowed the event speakers to place a special emphasis on the transformative impact of UPAF funding on youth arts education and community engagement. Attendees heard stories that reflected how contributions to UPAF make it possible for local arts organizations to inspire, employ, and educate thousands each year.

“Through UPAF, as well as through our collaboration with fellow member groups and artists across Milwaukee, we've not only been able to create and share work, but we also navigate common challenges and support one another,” said Dr. Julieana Cook, Executive Director of Danceworks MKE. “On behalf of Danceworks, we thank UPAF’s fundraising efforts in support of the vibrant performing arts community in Milwaukee.  Together, we can continue to enrich the cultural fabric of this incredible city.”

“UPAF has been especially impactful with our education programming,” said Anrea Moreno-Islas, Advancement Manager at the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. “Our Arts in Community Education (ACE) Program, which serves over 5,000 students and teachers every year, brings in school arts-based performances that range from dance, movement, spoken word, and every genre of music. Seeing students learn to love so many different forms of performing arts makes me honored to be part of this organization.”

Funds raised through the 2025 Community Campaign will provide critical support for 31 performing arts organizations and UPAF’s community engagement programs — sustaining artistic excellence, expanding access, and enriching lives across Southeastern Wisconsin.
