First Stage

Since 1987, First Stage has grown to become one of the nation’s most acclaimed children’s theaters and the second largest theater company in Milwaukee. First Stage touches hearts and transforms lives through professional theater productions that engage, enlighten and entertain. Committed to new play development, First Stage has presented over 50 world premieres in its history and has collaborated with renowned artists, including Harry Connick, Jr., Stephen Schwartz, and award-winning authors Lois Lowry and Cornelia Funke. Its Theater Academy, teaching life skills through stage skills, is the nation’s largest high-impact theater training program for young people. As Wisconsin’s leader in arts-in-education programming, First Stage’s dynamic Theater in Education programs promote active learning in our schools and our community, serving more than 20,000 children each year.

Florentine Opera

Celebrating 82 years of artistic and fiscal success, the Florentine Opera is driven by its mission to produce the full range of operatic works reflecting the highest musical and theatrical standards and to support community and education programs that foster the current and next generation of opera audiences and practitioners. The Florentine Opera Company is Wisconsin’s oldest fully professional performing arts organization and the sixth-oldest opera company in the United States. The three-time Grammy award winning Florentine Opera Company presents three operatic productions and a concert per season at the Marcus Center in downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin. William Florescu has been General Director since 2005. Joseph Rescigno is the Principal Conductor & Artistic Advisor, having served since 1981. Scott S. Stewart has acted as the Chorus Master and Associate Conductor since 1978. The Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra serves as the orchestra in performances by the Florentine Opera.

Milwaukee Ballet

Under the leadership of Artistic Director Michael Pink, Milwaukee Ballet has become world-renowned for presenting both bold new interpretations of story ballets, and cutting-edge, evocative contemporary works. Milwaukee Ballet is the home to an international company of dancers, and is one of only a few companies in the nation to feature its own orchestra. Milwaukee Ballet School & Academy is the only professional dance school in the Midwest accredited by the National Association of Schools of Dance. Milwaukee Ballet’s award-winning Community Outreach department serves more than 30,000 people in Southwestern Wisconsin through original, interactive programs.

Milwaukee Repertory Theater

Milwaukee Repertory Theater is a nationally-recognized company that presents compelling dramas, powerful classics, award-winning contemporary works, and full-scale musicals housed in its three unique performance venues – the Quadracci Powerhouse, Stiemke Studio, and Stackner Cabaret. The Rep also produces an annual production of A Christmas Carol, featuring the world premiere for a new adaptation in 2016, at the beautiful and historic Pabst Theater. Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra

Under the dynamic leadership of Music Director Edo de Waart, the MSO is a continuous source of artistic excellence and inspiration. Each and every year the musicians of the orchestra connect with nearly 200,000 patrons performing over 135 classics, pops, family, education, and community concerts in venues throughout the region. Since its inception in 1959, the MSO has found innovative ways to give music a home in the region, develop music appreciation and talent among area youth, and raise the national reputation of Milwaukee.

Skylight Music Theatre

Skylight Music Theatre prides itself in producing the full spectrum of music theatre – from opera to Broadway musicals and everything in between. Meet our Member Groups

Bel Canto

Founded in 1931, Bel Canto Chorus is Southeastern Wisconsin’s oldest continually performing arts organization. The organization is committed to enriching the lives of its audiences and members through the outstanding presentation of classical and modern choral music. The group includes an auditioned adult performance group of about 100 singers, a Boy Choir of local boys in 3rd through 12th grade, and a Senior Singers program for those 55 or better who want to sing in an organized performance chorus. It is the only organization in Southeastern Wisconsin which has such as extensive program allowing individuals to participate in the choral arts in the same organization for their entire lifetime.

Danceworks

Danceworks Performance Company (DPC) is the resident contemporary dance company of Danceworks, Inc. Founded in 1997, DPC presents powerful original dance works that inspire and entertain audiences of all ages and backgrounds. DPC’s artists embody the mission of Danceworks, Inc., founded in 1992 to enhance the joy, health and creativity of the community through performances, classes and outreach activities that integrate dance and other art forms. Danceworks serves more than 50,000 children, adults and seniors each year through: original contemporary performances by DPC; performances by Danceworks Youth Performance Company (DYPC), our company of young dancers ages 10-17; a year-round experimental venue for local and national artists called the DanceLAB; weekly dance and dance fitness classes for all ages and ability levels; dance and arts education programming at schools in Milwaukee and surrounding communities; and dance and arts programming for underserved older adults.

Founded in 1975, Milwaukee Chamber Theatre (MCT) produces intimate and accessible theatrical works that engage and challenge the audience, while employing and nurturing principally local theatre artists. Under the leadership of Producing Artistic Director C. Michael Wright and Managing Director Kirsten Mulvey, Milwaukee Chamber Theatre performs at the Broadway Theatre Center in Milwaukee’s Historic Third Ward.

Milwaukee Children’s Choir

Milwaukee Children’s Choir is an audition-based, advanced children’s choral music organization complete with five distinct performing choir levels, an early childhood music program for children in grades K4-K5, and a Harmony Program serving Milwaukee’s central city youth—both in- and out-of-school–who have little to no access to performing arts programs. Established in 1994, Milwaukee Children’s Choir has been providing children ages 4-18 with exceptional choral music education and performance experiences that foster creativity, personal expression and social growth. Through child-centered, age appropriate instruction, Milwaukee Children’s Choir educates the whole child, teaching beyond music by incorporating important life skills into its curriculum. Offering rehearsal locations throughout the Greater Milwaukee area, Milwaukee Children’s Choir is able to incorporate children from throughout the whole of Southeastern Wisconsin. Admission into Milwaukee Children’s Choir begins with a brief audition and no advanced preparation is necessary.

Milwaukee Public Theatre

Milwaukee Public Theatre’s work has been acclaimed by audiences throughout the country for its artistry, creativity, diversity and accessibility. Since its inception in 1974 as Friends Mime Theatre, MPT has been one of the very few professional theatres in the state to commit to free-to-the-public programming that makes the arts accessible to all our citizens. Each year the company reaches around 90,000 people of all ages, cultures and abilities/disabilities with socially and culturally relevant theatreworks, large-scale community events and parades, commissioned works for businesses and corporations, and educational workshops and arts residencies in all art forms.

Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra (MYSO)

At Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra (MYSO), we empower young people from diverse backgrounds to joyfully pursue musical excellence while building crucial life skills. MYSO is one of the most successful and respected youth orchestra programs in the nation. With 1,000 young musicians ages 8-18 from as many as 215 schools, 60 communities and 14 counties throughout Southeastern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois participating in MYSO’s many music training programs, it has become one of the largest organizations on its kind in the U.S. Instrumental in changing lives since 1956, MYSO’s programs foster critical thinking skills, creativity and collaboration through more than 40 ensemble and enrichment options, ranging from symphony, string orchestras, jazz and steel pan bands to music theory, composition, and international tours.
