Milwaukee, Wis. (October 29, 2019) — Skylight Music Theatre Board of Directors President Marta Bianchini announced the renewal and five-year extension of Executive Director Jack R. Lemmon’s contract through the 2024-2025 season.
Lemmon was hired as executive director in 2015, having worked in the performing arts for over 30 years. In his current role as Skylight Music Theatre Executive Director, he is responsible for the institutional and administrative leadership of the organization. Skylight is Milwaukee’s professional Equity music theatre company and is celebrating its 60th anniversary season in 2019-2020.
“Over the past four years, Jack has strengthened Skylight’s financial position, managed the sale and leaseback of the Broadway Theatre Center and overseen steady increases in contributions, ticket revenues, number of subscribers, and managed the search process that brought our brand new artistic director, Michael Unger, to Skylight,” said Bianchini, who announced the contract news at a recent Board of Directors meeting.
In the last two seasons, Skylight has seen impressive growth. Highlights include a 41% growth in audiences, with total attendance now over 30,000; ticket revenue up 39% currently reaching $1.5 million; and a 50% increase in the number of performances offered, due to an expanding repertoire as well as new performance times. In addition, Skylight has seen a five-fold increase in outside rental income of the Broadway Theatre Center. This season, Skylight’s Cabot Theatre is a site for the 2019 Milwaukee Film Festival.
Lemmon said, “I am proud to be part of this exceptional company. Every person involved in this organization, on stage and behind the scenes, is committed to excellence and to providing Milwaukee with outstanding music theatre productions. My thanks to the Board of Directors for their ongoing trust and support. Together, we are positioned for a strong future in the next 60 years.”
