Oh, the magic of a snowy day! Peter is ready to explore the winter wonderland outside – throwing snow balls, making snow angels, and the crunch, crunch, crunch of the fresh snow. This imaginative ode to childhood brings to life the heartwarming stories by Ezra Jack Keats. Adventure with Peter as he grows up and explores the wide and wonderful world around him.

Performance runtime is approximately 50 minutes with no intermission. Suggested for families with young people ages 3 – 7+

This revival of a Rep premiere (previously titled Grafton City Blues) explores the inspiring story of Grafton, Wisconsin’s, Paramount Records. A recording label that, at the height of the jazz and blues age, became for a brief, bright few years, the leading label for recording artists of color in the Midwest—and broke down small-town racial barriers along the way.  Artists such as Louis Armstrong, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Alberta Hunter and Ma Rainey all recorded there. This exuberant musical celebration of some of the greatest jazz and blues music features four sensational quadruple threat performers guiding the journey through story and song.

After an artist friend’s unexpected passing, Mussorgsky paid homage by composing a suite of musical paintings inspired by his friend’s sketches. Music Director Ken-David Masur conducts Gorchakov’s orchestral arrangement of this colorful gallery — listen for the familiar, brassy “Promenade” throughout. Sergei Babayan, a pianist of “consummate technique and insight” (New York Times) performs Prokofiev’s passionate Third Piano Concerto.
