Unnecessary Farce

Unnecessary Farce

August 17th, 2019
Milwaukee Chamber Theatre

A perfect summertime romp! Featuring Jonathan Gillard Daly, Tim Higgins, Rick Pendzich, Amber Smith, Jenny Wanasek, Ben Yela, Rachael Zientek. Undercover cops Eric and Billie have one job to do: Sit in their Sheboygan motel room and monitor the meeting in the room next door, where an embezzling mayor is supposed to meet with his female accountant. Simple. Easy. And yet a number of troubling questions need answering. Who’s in which room? Who’s hired an incomprehensible Scottish hit man? Who’s really taken the money? And why does the accountant keep taking off her clothes? Paul Slade Smith’s truly criminal comic sensation riotously re-invents the door-slamming farce for the digital age. It’s an absolutely necessary summertime treat! Tickets range from $15-$40.

Hip Hop DNA Volume 1

Hip Hop DNA Volume 1

September 13th, 2019
Black Arts MKE

Hip Hop DNA is a celebration of the music and people who helped define the sound of American popular culture, from Nina Simone, George Clinton, and Kraftwerk, to Dr. Dre, Pharrell Williams, and Metro Boomin. This live performance will illustrate the evolution and interconnectedness of five decades of music and dance, while exploring the influences of African, Latin, European, and Eastern traditions. Hip Hop is about expressing individuality, making your own lane, and challenging the status quo, but it is also rooted in community-building, bridging gaps, and passing on knowledge to the next generation. In an increasingly divided world, Hip Hop is one of the few spaces where people of all ages, races, genders, and backgrounds can come together, create, and co-exist freely and equally – One Nation Under a Groove.
