LUNA GALE paints a portrait of imperfect people making impossible choices
Milwaukee, WI. (December 30, 2016) – Renaissance Theaterworks (RTW) will present the Wisconsin premiere of the gritty drama LUNA GALE. Written by Rebecca Gilman, LUNA GALE runs January 20 through February 12, 2017 in the Studio Theatre at the Broadway Theatre Center (158 N. Broadway, Milwaukee, Wis.)
Caroline (Tami Workentin), a veteran social worker, removes infant Luna Gale from the custody of her struggling young parents Peter (Marques Causey) and Karlie (April Paul), barely employed and smoking meth. The best course of action seems clear and Baby Luna is placed temporarily with her devoted grandmother Cindy (Laura Gray). Caroline realizes that the situation is more complicated than it seems as Cindy pushes fo permanent adoption of baby Luna. Struggling with the limitations of an overburdened bureaucracy, Caroline is forced to make a risky decision with potentially disasterous consequences.
LUNA GALE explores the dichotomy of how self-destructive youth can still be loving and devoted parents, and how damaged people heal themselves by healing others. Baby Luna is a blank slate waiting to absorb the love or damage (or both) from the adults around her, all of whom are broken and grasping for redemption.
Told with humor and pragmatism, LUNA GALE brings to the stage an intimate and intense picture of imperfect people forced to make impossible choices.
“A compelling and compassionate portrait of flawed people making impossible choices.”
