BETRAYAL

BETRAYAL

April 5th, 2018 - April 8th, 2018

The play begins in the present, with the meeting of Emma and Jerry, whose adulterous affair of seven years ended two years earlier. Emma’s marriage to Robert, Jerry’s best friend, is now breaking up, and she needs someone to talk to. Their reminiscences reveal that Robert knew of their affair all along and, to Jerry’s dismay, regarded it with total nonchalance. Thereafter, in a series of contiguous scenes, the play moves backward in time, from the end of the Emma-Jerry affair to its beginning, throwing into relief the little lies and oblique remarks that, in this time-reverse, reveal more than direct statements, or overt actions, ever could.

From internationally recognized playwright Finegan Kruckemeyer comes a contemporary folk tale inspired by conversations with our community. Suggested for families with young people ages 10 – 17+

I and You by Lauren Gunderson

I and You by Lauren Gunderson

April 7th, 2018

Anthony arrives at his schoolmate Caroline’s door bearing waffle fries, a copy of Walt Whitman’s Leaves of Grass, and an urgent homework assignment. Caroline is sick and hasn’t been to school in months. She is as quick and sarcastic as Anthony is quiet and steadfast; both are smart as whips. As these two let down their guard, their seemingly mundane poetry project reveals a much deeper, more profound mystery that has brought them together. I AND YOU is an ode to youth, life, love, and the strange beauty of human connectedness.

Single tickets go on sale July 31st.

Become Ocean

Become Ocean

April 7th, 2018

John Luther Adams’s Become Ocean has won a Pulitzer Prize and mesmerized audiences. “Like the sea at dawn, it presents a gorgeous surface, yet its heaving motion conveys overwhelming force…tonally centered, almost to the point of lushness,” wrote Alex Ross in The New Yorker. “Its three huge crescendos suggest a tidal surge washing over all barriers. It may be the loveliest apocalypse in musical history…Whether orchestras will be playing it a century hence is impossible to say, but I went away reeling.”
