Disguised as a nun, she finds herself at odds with both the rigid lifestyle and uptight Mother Superior. Using her unique disco moves and singing talent to inspire the choir, Deloris breathes new life into the church and community but, in doing so, blows her cover. SEX WITH STRANGERS

SEX WITH STRANGERS

November 5th, 2017

Renaissance Theaterworks opens its 25th Anniversary Season with SEX WITH STRANGERS by Laura Eason, running October 20 – November 12, 2017 at the Broadway Theatre Center in the Historic Third Ward of Milwaukee.

When frustrated forty-ish novelist, Olivia, meets fast-talking, twenty-something, blogger and memoirist, Ethan – known more for his sexual prowess than his prose – she worries that she will become just another chapter in his little black book.

Their funny and passionate union blurs the lines between rewrites, romance and royalties – proving you can’t judge a book by its author.

SEX WITH STRANGERS was one of America’s top ten most produced plays from 2014-2016. In addition to playwriting, Laura Eason is also a producer/writer for the Emmy Award-winning series House of Cards.

Directed by Mallory Metoxen, featuring Marti Gobel & Nick Narcisi

Performances are: Wednesday* – Friday @ 7:30pm (*one Wednesday Matinee performance on November 8 at 1:00pm), Saturdays at 4:00pm & 8:00pm* (*No 8:00pm performance November 4 or 11), Sundays at 2pm.

Eccentric Manhattan socialite Florence Foster Jenkins once declared, “people may say I can’t sing, but no one ever said I didn’t sing.” And, oh, did she sing – often and loudly, but rarely on key. Her recitals brought her a legion of die-hard fans, and she capped her improbable career with a Carnegie Hall concert that famously sold out in two hours. Her story was recently told in an Oscar-nominated film starring Meryl Streep. Time Out calls Souvenir “a memorable illustration of the purely theatrical magic that can turn the tinniest ear to gold.” Souvenir is a charming and hilarious musical comedy that reminds us that can achieve anything when you set your mind to it.
