UPAF FEATURED MEMBER GROUP PERFORMANCE: SKYLIGHT OPERA THEATRE'S "THE MARRIAGE OF FIGARO"
The Marriage of Figaro
January 29-February 14 Cabot Theatre, Broadway Theatre Center, 158 N. Broadway
In The Barber of Seville, Count Almaviva, with substantial help from Figaro, wooed and won the lovely Rosina away from her crusty old ward and would-be husband, Bartolo. In The Marriage of Figaro, the story continues…
Ten years after The Barber of Seville, the lascivious Count has married Rosina but their marriage has gone sour because of his philandering. Figaro and Susanna, preparing for their wedding night, never realized how many people they would have to maneuver around in order to fall into each other’s arms. Throw in an amorous teenager, a tipsy gardener, and schemers and dreamers looking for love and you have one of Mozart’s finest and funniest operas. Charming, lighthearted and endlessly enjoyable, The Marriage of Figaro is a delight for opera newcomers and veterans alike.
As with all Skylight Opera Theatre productions, this work will be performed in English.
